It is generally possible for individual group members to get on at a later stop. However, it must be clearly evident that they belong to the travel group. This is because expanding or changing the composition of the travel group once travel has begun is not permitted, nor is it permitted to pass on NRW Day Tickets for up to 5 people that have already been used. Depending on the transport company issuing the ticket, the NRW Day Ticket for up to 5 people contains a name field, which must be completed in block letters by the customer travelling the longest distance if there are several people travelling together. The customer must be able to identify himself/herself with official photo ID upon request.
No. The NRW Day Ticket for 1 person and the NRW Day Ticket for up to 5 people are – as the name suggests – valid for one day. However, the day is always deemed to last until the end of services, which is always until 3 am on the following day. So if you buy a ticket for Saturday, you can still travel after midnight on Sunday until 3am.
